Picture
November 8, 10 am - 4 pm, Raven Room, Whistler
Join other local farmers and restaurants for a day-long networking and problem solving event hosted by the Squamish Food Policy Council.

Are you a farmer, chef, food processor or manufacturer in the Squamish to Lillooet Region? This event is for you! Limited seating and registration is required.
The Good Food Gathering is bringing diverse food players from across the Squamish to Lillooet Region together for an intimate and energizing conversation over food and drink at the Raven Room.
By gathering at the same table let us forge new relationships, learn about our regional food system, and identify the pertinent gaps within it in order to begin to imagine a vision for the future of food and agriculture in our communities. Attendees can expect to leave with new local business contacts, knowing more about our local farms and restaurants, and being informed and inspired about our regions food economy.

Good Food Gathering: Institutions & Policy Makers

Picture
November 23, 9 am - 1 pm, Squamish Public Library
Institutions from local governments, healthcare, hotels and more make significant food purchases in our region; by strategically leveraging our purchasing power we can generate greater health and wealth in our communities. How and where procurement dollars are spent can have important economic, employment, social, and environmental impacts in our communities and workplaces.
Attendees will leave armed with tools and resources to be local food champions, understand the community impacts and benefits of supporting our local food economy, how to implement effective procurement policy, how to strengthen investment in local food, and where to begin addressing current gaps. This event is a win-win for all involved in the agriculture, food processing, institutional and tourism sectors as we begin to understand our roles in shaping the future of our regional food system.

The Squamish Food Policy Council is committed to creating a healthy, equitable and sustainable food system that contributes to the economic, ecological, and social wellbeing of the Squamish to Lillooet Region. We work to bring local food players to the table to take a coordinated approach in achieving food security through the implementation of pertinent research, planning, policy, and program development.
Supporting local food systems is the foundation of a healthy, resilient, and place-based food system and our goal is to support local farming as best as we can. Your perspective is invaluable to this discussion and we would be delighted if you could attend this Good Food Gathering on Wednesday November 23rd from 9 am to 1 pm at the Squamish Public Library. We are asking participants to pay what they can on a sliding scale ($10 minimum).
