Krystle tenBrink

Krystle is one of our co-founders of the Squamish Food Policy Council. She began working on food initiatives with the Squamish CAN (Climate Action Network) in 2010, which included establishing the Squamish Food Charter, the development of the CAN Grow Community Garden's and Mamquam Edible School Yard (MESY). Krystle also works at Quest University Canada as the Manager of Residence Life and is a Director with Squamish CAN. When not at work or volunteering, Krystle enjoys exploring the backcountry by means of split boarding, rock climbing, and mountain biking with her husband, Scott. Krystle also enjoys edible gardening, relaxing with her cats, people connecting, travelling, and reading historical non-fiction.

 Constance Wylie

Constance joined the Squamish Food Policy Council as co-chair in February 2019. She has been engaged with food and sustainability initiatives since 2009, building a vegetable garden at her high school, starting an Environmental Club and garden at university, ecological farming, and volunteering with, then managing, the North Saanich Farmers Market. In spring of 2019 she began managing Mamquam Edible Schoolyard (MESY) where she gardens with the students every week.  Constance is continually inspired by the vibrant community drawn together by food and agriculture initiatives, and all the opportunities it provides for learning, collaboration, and enjoying time spent with others over a good meal. She loves spending time on her families farm on Vancouver Island, hiking with her dog Salal, and exploring places by bicycle with her partner Cameron, always on the lookout for urban agriculture, rooftop gardens, markets and food sustainable food initiatives.

 Gaby Barnes

 
​Gaby joined the Squamish Food Council team in 2020, where she is leading the development of a Local Food Procurement Pledge and Policy and is supporting ongoing food systems projects in the Sea to Sky Corridor. Gaby is passionate about creating sustainable communities and believes that creating a thriving local food systems is of the most important, and rewarding actions we can take. Gaby holds a Masters of Education for Sustainability, and has worn many hats in the field of sustainability; from food systems, active and safe routes to school, community planning, climate-change education, and urban food growing; with non-profits, government, and businesses. Some of Gaby’s favourite things include growing / cooking / eating food, biking and hiking in the coastal rainforest and her home-towns' Rocky Mountains, she loves flowers, her plants, pottery, her dog Rosa and partner Fraser.

​Michalina Hunter

Michi is a co-founder of the Squamish Food Policy Council. She started working on environmental and food initiatives in Squamish at Quest University in 2011 via the Student Representative Council, EcoQuest Club, community garden, and founding the Beekeeping Club. She became involved with Squamish CAN's board and food initiatives in 2015, including helping with adoption of the Squamish Food Charter, managing the Garibaldi Community Garden and Mamquam Elementary School Garden (MESY), and initiating the Squamish Seed Library and annual Seedy Sunday event. Michi also works as a beekeeper and educator with Green Bee Honey, a sustainable beekeeping business her and her partner started in 2015. When she's not working on food policy or beekeeping, you can find her foraging, fermenting, gardening, or playing with her pup Niska.

Ariel Leger


Ariel was a 4th year Student at Quest University Canada who joined up with the Food Policy Council March 2017. He completed his Quest experiential learning credits with us helping map food and farm resources in the Sea to Sky Corridor, through both the Food Asset Map and Young Agrarian's U-Map. Ariel is a permaculture designer, gardener, farmer, and ecologist. He is passionate about whole systems, how they function, and how we can make them more resilient and just.
